Join me for my next live webinar where I explain how to get started growing your linkedin network connections. I’m convinced it will work for just about anyone. I’ve worked with friends who weren’t even on linkedin, one is a local attorney another a VP at a publicly traded software services company. It worked so well, I decided to build a little class and share how I did it. With far less effort than above, I’m now pushing 4,000. Last fall, I decided, with 1,500 connections after 15 years on linkedin, to give it another – intentional shot. For all that, not sure I got more than a couple hundred new connections. Weeks converting my websites to wordpress and building ‘attractive’ popups (don’t you hate those). More webinars, live-streams, articles and even live speeches. Promotional offers – get this article free, just give me your email. I spent countless hours trying all the tricks of generating a bigger list. I was growing new connections at a such a slow pace, my useable list seemed to be shrinking. One of the things I learned in those classes is that I could download the names and emails of my 1st level connections – did you know that? Even though I got many encouraging replies and boosted the views of my videos and articles, there were always a few unsubscribes. ![]() One of the videos generated a client who did $150K with me the next year, so I suppose it was all worth it. I curated on twitter, did videos on youtube, and took a linkedin course (3 actually). ![]() In 2012, I got serious about Social Media. In the beginning, no one I knew had heard of it, so it didn’t really pay to search for friends there… I kept my contacts in my computer, printing them out in a tiny font and carrying my book with me. After 5 years I had 49 connections which is about average. I started on Linkedin in 2003 – believe it or not. It’s not how many social networks, its how good is YOUR social network ![]() … and then I thought to myself : “How hard can it be?” ![]() Installation details and more information about how to use Texpander is available on github. All you do is click on the window where the key sequence is located. It might not be immediately obvious how to actually set the keys that trigger the shortcut. The command is just the absolute path to the location where you installed texpander.sh When you click the ( + ) a little window will open where you can name the shortcut and specify the command to run. Then you’ll see the keyboard preferences window and you can create a custom shortcut, like this: I just fire Dash by pressing the super key and then type keyboard like this. Launch the keyboard preferences (part of System Preferences). I’m on Ubuntu 16.04 and all you have to do is… I have gotten a couple questions about how to create a custom keyboard shortcut to launch Texpander. I’m really happy to see all the comments and also really appreciate the contributions on github. If so, it will paste using ctrl+shift+v if not then it will paste normally as ctrl+v In texpander.sh there is a check to see if the active window is a terminal. The terminal works a little differently from other GUI apps in that you have to type ctrl+shift+v to paste stuff. The contents of ~/.texpander/sig.txt is pasted into your document.Type in sig and hit Enter (or click “OK”).A zenity window will appear asking for your abbreviation.Type ctrl+space (or whatever keyboard shortcut you set up).Put your cursor where you want your email signature to be pasted.Start writing an email to somebody (or start editing any document). If you have your email signature in a file called ~/.texpander/sig.txt you would enter the abbreviation sig when zenity prompts you. Then paste the contents of the file in your ~/.texpander directory matching the abbreviations you just entered. When run, it will prompt you for an abbreviation using zenity. So, I wrote this really small bash script which you can assign to a keyboard shortcut. But I prefer using zenity so I can just type in whatever abbreviation I need rather than using dmenu to select the abbreviation. There is Snippy which uses dmenu to do a fairly similar thing to what Texpander does. ![]() I just wanted a simple, centralized tool that worked with everything where I could just type a little abbreviation and have it expand into whatever larger text block I needed regardless of what app I happen to be in. Of course there’s also Autokey for Ubuntu, but it doesn’t work in Firefox or Thunderbird. One of the best ones I’ve found is Auto Text Expander for Google Chrome another one is My Words for Firefox. There are browser add-ons that can do text snippet expansions. I also do a lot of coding and there are various code snippets I use repeatedly. If I am sending a business email, I’ll use a different signature. If I am sending a personal email I might put a different email signature with my personal contact information as my email signature. Another example is my contact information. So I have saved answers for those common questions. I answer support questions for Cart66, the WordPress Ecommerce Plugin and there are some common questions that tend to come up on a regular basis. There are a variety of different little things I tend to type over and over. So I put together this tiny little script to do just that. For example, I want to type sig and have it expand into my complete email signature – not matter what browser or email client I’m using. I just want a quick way to expand a text snippet into a longer chunk of text. Autokey is also a little more than I even need. I’ve been using Ubuntu for a long time and have been lamenting the sad state of autokey and it’s relationship with Firefox and Thunderbird. ![]() Why rely on an ancient bow, when you can destroy your enemies from afar using these amazing "muskets", "fuciles", "calivers", "arquebusses", "gewehrs" and "raifurus"? It also suggested the possibility of extending Additional Factor of Authentication requirement to cross-border card transactions undertaken using cards issued.Īccording to the report, internationalisation of rupee will facilitate greater degree of integration of the economy with rest of the world, in terms of foreign trade and international capital flows. The report suggested expanding the scope of Real Time Gross Settlement to settle transactions in major trade currencies to facilitate processing of foreign currency transactions and establish India as a major centre for international financial trades. The central bank noted that the decline in India's rating in some parameters involving currency in circulation is explained by the increased demand for cash as a store of value during the COVID-related lockdown and the slowdown in economic growth during 2020. "Since the last exercise, India has demonstrated improvement in digital payment options available for bill payments, ticketing systems for public transportation, available channels for cross-border remittances and decline in cheque usage," the report said. This follow-on exercise, which covers the same countries and parameters used in the earlier study, was undertaken for the position in 2020.Īccording to the report, India was categorised as a 'leader' or 'strong' in respect of 25 out of 40 indicators, and as 'weak' in eight indicators. The benchmarking exercise was first carried out in 2019 with respect to the position in 2017. The central bank released a report on benchmarking India's payment system, providing a comparative position of the payments ecosystem with other major countries. These measures could include, building on the UPI-PayNow interface and exploring avenues for interlinking UPI with fast payment systems in other jurisdictions, and enhancing/reviewing the prescribed limits for inward remittances using the Money Transfer Service Scheme (MTSS) to improve customer convenience. ![]() On way forward, the report said with global focus on enhancing cross-border payment arrangements, it is essential that India explores further actions in this arena, which would further its relative position and remove frictions in such transactions. ![]() However, this may not be a concern as cash withdrawals in India are also facilitated through other channels such as PoS terminals and micro ATMs using Aadhaar enabled payment systems (AePS), the RBI added. It also said though India has the third largest number of ATMs deployed, it continues to fare poorly with regard to people served per ATM due to its sizeable population. In 2020, the share of card payments in total payment systems transactions was the second lowest in India (14.7 per cent), with only Indonesia witnessing a lower share (7.2 per cent). However, RuPay is lagging in the credit card segment with below 3 per cent share of total cards issued. The report noted that India's domestic card network - RuPay - dominates the debit card segment as far as card issuance is concerned. Other parameters on which India has achieved a strong or leadership position include e-money and customer protection. Regulation continues to be strong in India with many proactive customer centric initiatives being taken. The RBI stressed that the learnings from the benchmarking exercise are expected to facilitate further improvements in the payments landscape in India. The group also is working with partners in Tanzania to also translate the app into Swahili. The project will make engaging experiences for Virginia Tech Museum of Geosciences visitors. University Libraries’ 3D scanning technology is highly accurate and captures not only the shape of the bones but also the texture and color. “It’s getting easier and cheaper to be able to tell these stories, and now viewers can actually interact with these animals that are hundreds of millions of years old.”ĪRIES is responsible for developing the augmented reality app as well as the preparation and optimization of the 3D models of the bones that University Libraries’ 3D Scanning Studio, led by Max Ofsa, Prototyping Studio manager, scanned from original fossils. “It’s a way to bring these animals back to life in a way that we haven’t been able to because of technological barriers,” said Nesbitt. Theoretically, this augmented reality experience can be created for any fossils, including 3D-printed ones, with a digital scan. “With refinement, these ideas and approaches developed in the project might just find their way into larger places like the Field Museum in Chicago or internationally known museums like the National History Museum in London. “The paleontology itself is a big deal,” said Todd Ogle, executive director of Applied Research in Immersive Experiences and Simulations (ARIES) at University Libraries. ![]() Carnivorous Teleocrater is one of the oldest relatives of dinosaurs that has ever been discovered, and its bones are temporarily housed on Virginia Tech's campus. This creature is a cousin to dinosaurs, has a long neck and tail, walked on four crocodylian-like legs, and was approximately 6 to 7 feet long. Living over 245 million years ago during the Triassic Period and predating dinosaurs, Teleocrater was unearthed in Tanzania, East Africa, and named by Virginia Tech and other paleontologists in 2017. Through this app, visitors can learn about the importance of the animal, how and when the animal was found, relationships between skeletons, and how the virtual experience was created. The project’s digital skeleton of the Teleocrater rhadinus was created from original fossils and will be 3D-printed as a freestanding skeleton that participants can interact with through an augmented reality app. You can literally scan the bones with your phone and transport into a digital environment.” So what we're doing is making that panel more integrative to the animal itself. “You can look at a specimen or a skeleton and see its physical structure, but the only information about that animal is on a small panel in front of the exhibit. “Right now, there’s only static skeletons in museums around the world, so most of the interaction is passive,” said Nesbitt. Led by paleontologists Sterling Nesbitt and Michelle Stocker in the Department of Geosciences, the team aims to close the gap between static skeleton displays in museums and digital access to the wealth of information they possess. The Modern Skeleton: Translating Natural History into Interactive and Immersive Experiences project was made possible by a $25,000 Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology Major SEAD Grant. The related educational materials will be accessible worldwide, filling in the holes between what our scientists know today and the Earth's history. This interactive learning environment will include digital replicas of all individual bones as well as a mounted 3D-printed skeleton. A Virginia Tech team is bringing museum exhibits to life by creating a complete digital skeleton of a Teleocrater rhadinus - an animal that predates the dinosaurs - to serve as the centerpiece of an immersive educational experience. The fastest, most accurate graphics plug-in. Not only does this allow different developers to focus their efforts on one aspect of the PlayStation 2 hardware, this also allows users that have a system configuration that does not yield good results with one plug-in to attempt to try another to see if they have better results. For instance, video plug-ins are utilized by PCSX2 to render images to the screen and emulate the graphics hardware of the PlayStation 2, whereas sound plug-ins emulate the sound hardware of the PlayStation 2. PCSX2 makes use of plug-ins as a means of modularizing development efforts among the separate components (subsystems) of the emulated PlayStation 2 hardware. Cheat codes are supported via the use of PNACH patching files. Options such as the ability to increase/decrease game speeds, use unlimited memory cards, and utilize any gamepad controllers supported by the native operating system are also available. There is also support for gameplay recording in Full HD using the GSdx plugin. PCSX2 supports save states and dynamic recompilation ( JIT). PCSX2 was used as a basis for AetherSX2, a PlayStation 2 emulator for Android. In 2022, PCSX2 added support for the Vulkan API. 22 games are considered "perfect" – free of bugs – and all but one at least boot to the menu screen. Īs of November 2021, 97% of PlayStation 2 games are considered "playable" on the emulator, meaning they can be played largely but not entirely free of slight issues. The addition of a new VU recompiler brought better compatibility, a memory card editor, an overhaul of the SPU2-X audio plug-in, and numerous other improvements. PCSX2 0.9.8 was released in May 2011 and featured an overhauled GUI written with wxWidgets, that improved compatibility for Linux and newer Windows operating systems. Version 0.9.1 was released in July 2006.įrom 2007 to 2011, developers worked on Netplay and speed improvements. The team then started working on the difficult task of emulating the PlayStation 2's BIOS they got it to run, although it was slow and graphically distorted. Other programmers later joined the team, and they were eventually able to get some PS2 games to the loading screen. Although each processor can be emulated well independently, accurately synchronizing them and emulating the console's timing is difficult. The main bottleneck in PS2 emulation is emulating the Emotion Engine multi-processor on the PC x86 architecture. Since September 2016, PCSX2 is partially compatible with PlayStation games. Additionally, PCSX2 requires a genuine copy of the PS2 BIOS, which is not available for download from the developers due to copyright-related legal issues.
